Privacy Policy

Summary

OtakuList is designed to keep your anime watchlist local to your browser. We do not require an account and we do not sell your data. Cloud sync is entirely optional: while you are logged out, nothing about your list ever leaves your device. If you do create an account, your list is stored in a single private record that only your own login can read.

What data we store

The extension stores your watchlist in your browser's local storage. This includes anime titles, episode counts, status (Watching, Completed, etc.), and related list information you choose to save.

Each saved entry also records the address of the page you last watched that anime on, which is what the Resume button opens. That address includes the site's domain.

By default all of this is kept on your device. If you choose to log in — either on the Anime List page or from the extension popup — the same entries, including those page addresses, are mirrored to a private Supabase record that only your authenticated account can access. If you would prefer that information never leave your machine, simply do not log in; every other feature behaves identically. Logging out stops the syncing and leaves your list on your device.

Creating an account also means we hold the email address you signed up with (or the one your Google account provides), because that is what identifies the account. The optional Gacha Profiles feature stores whatever you put on your profile — and that profile is public by design.

What we do not collect

• We do not require user accounts — the extension and the web list work fully without one.
• We do not track your browsing. The extension inspects a page to detect the anime on it; it never records a history of the pages you visit.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your list information.
• We do not run any analytics, telemetry or advertising on the site or in the extension.
• We do not read your list. Row-level security means a synced list is readable only by the account that wrote it.

External data requests

In order to identify titles and fetch anime metadata such as cover art or official name data, the extension may access public metadata services such as AniList. These requests are made to provide better title matching and a cleaner watchlist experience. This is not used to create a user profile or track personal browsing behavior.

Website usage

The OtakuList website does not require an account for local list management. Account creation is optional and is used to provide cloud sync for your anime list and the separate Gacha Profiles feature. We do not use your watchlist for advertising or personal browsing tracking.

Your control

You can remove your saved data by clearing your browser's site data or removing the extension. On Chromium browsers, you can also delete the extension's stored data from the browser storage settings.
